Barack Obama vs the Democratic Party of JFK and Harry Truman
By James G. McMorris
Someone must save the Democratic Party of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Harry Truman from Barack Obama. Am I the only one old enough to remember how JFK brought the country together? Read John Fitzgerald Kennedy's inaugural address of Jan 20, 1961. http://www.famousquotes.me.uk/speeches/John_F_Kennedy/5.htm Compare what JFK said and did, with what Barack Obama says and does.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, “ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. “ Barack Obama says, Let the government do it, and puts forth his best effort to force his form of government ideas upon us. Remember when JFK said, “We do not do things because they are easy, but because they are hard.” (Of course, I cannot put his accent in, loved the way he said it.) Can anyone imagine Barack Obama suggesting we do something hard? He has never done anything hard in his adult life. Am I the only one old enough to remember Harry Truman, speaking of the Presidency, “The Buck Stops Here!” Thereby taking responsibility for everything. Harry Truman was President; he knew the only way to find a solution was to be responsible for what ever was not working correctly. Barack Obama says, “It is George Bush's fault.” Remember how John Fitzgerald Kennedy took on Nikita Khrushchev and the Communist Party when they attempted to place missiles in Cuba. We almost went to war with Russia. You see JFK was following the rules of capitalism; Barack Obama follows the rules of communism. Barack Obama is doing things to our economy that is creating a great drag on our recovery. For those of you who believe that is acceptable behavior, I suggest you have a conversation with those who have escaped a communist society to live in a capitalist society. It is a truism, that the communist society builds walls and laws to keep people in, we build walls and laws to keep people out. Given all this there are celebrities who have visited Communist countries and returned to the United States and proclaimed Communism is better. (Is it necessary that I point out they always returned to the United States?) However it reminds me of a book I recently read. The book is titled, “7 Tipping Points that Saves the World” .It is about 7 events, which in the authors’ opinion saved the world and gave us the freedom that we have in the United States of America. |
The authors’, Chris and Ted Stewart, point out the freedom we enjoy in the USA, is very, very, remarkable when we look at the history of the world and the freedom of other countries.
It is a very good book, but the conversation that really had an impact on my thinking was a conversation one of the author’s had with a Russian general. One of the authors had an opportunity to be an escort for Russian military inspection team who were confirming the terms of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. The author says this inspection was about 10 years after the Berlin Wall was removed, making it about the year 2000. After inspecting the military installations, the Russian group were given the opportunity to meet with local civic leaders, went shopping at the local mall, and a dinner at a local restaurant. As the group returned to the facilities were the Russian’s were spending the night, the author and one of generals had a conversation, were the general, indicating the homes, the local shops, the supply of electricity and water, said, “All my life, I have been lied to.” This reminded me of a similar incident, in 1989 my sister and brother-in-law’s church sponsored a Russian immigrant family. The family lived with my sister and brother-in-law for several months. The first time my sister took the Russian mother to the store, the Russian mother believed that the store shelves were stocked for her benefit, and if she returned the next day the shelves would be bare. Apparently that is what they did in Russia, anytime a dignitary visited a local community it was a big thing, and a real show was put on, just to look good. The father of the family had served some time in a Russian prison, his crime, he was a Christian. However, when not in prison he had a job. All his working life he had been sweeping a factory parking lot with a push broom. Given this information I realize Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, and many others who feel capitalism is broken, that Socialism or Communism is better, have allowed themselves to be deceived, they have been lied to, (Just as Barack Obama is lying to us now) just like the Russian General and my sister’s Russian friend. They forget that the communist nations build walls to keep their citizens in, while we must build a fence to keep noncitizens out. The people who believe Socialism or Communism is better have never had the opportunity to visit with the regular folks who have, after living under such a government, escaped to live in the United States. Those who feel socialism / communism is best, fail to realize that the capitalistic Republic that we have is best, and always will be best, if, to quote Benjamin Franklin, “We can keep it”. |
